Travis Elementary was an existing elementary school complex consisting of an early 1930’s school building with additions constructed in the 1970’s and in the 1980’s.  HISD and the local community were adamant about saving the original 1930’s school building and replacing the later additions.   The new structure will provide modern educational amenities and technologies while bringing the school into compliance with current educational standards. Complete with a modern Library, Cafetorium, state of the art technologies, courtyards, an outdoor classroom, and its naturally lighted corridors, this 88,000 S.F. school will now have adequate space to accommodate 920 students.  This project is a joint venture project with Taft Architects and our firm.  Taft Architects is the architect of record and lead designer, while we were the consulting architect responsible for code review, design development, contract drawings, project manual, and is assisting in construction administration.
