Originally programmed as a $13,900,000 renovation of this 50 year old facility, the Houston Independent School District decided to replace the existing campus with a new 190,000 s.f. Middle School complex based on recommendations presented in a comprehensive Scope-to-Budget report prepared by our firm. This report addressed the issues required to improve the physical facilities while meeting education standards and goals within the limited renovation scope.
Upon the determination that the educational goals of the renovation could not be effectively achieved, our firm and HISD work closely to develop a program and plan for a new 1,500 student middle school located on the existing site. Integral to this effort was the planning of the construction phasing of the new facility so that it could be accomplished allowing the existing school to continue operations on site.
